Adding fractions with unlike denominators
1. Take the L.C.D of both denominators 3 and 2, that would be 6 2. Divide first denominator 3 by LCD 6, we will find the product =2 3. Then divide the second denominator 2 by LCD 6, product will be =3 4. First product multiply with the first numerator 2x2 =4 5. second product will be multiplied with the second numerator 4x3= 12 6. Add both numerators now 4 + 12 =16 7. Divided by LCD 6 16/6 8. this fraction will be reduced by 2 2 goes into 16 ......8 times 2 goes into 6...... 3 times 8/3 it could be changed into mixed fraction 2 2/3 (first 2 is the quotient, second 2 is remainder)
