Terms of Algebraic Expression

The parts of the expressions connected by the signs of   "+"   and  "- "  are called the terms of the expressions. In  X+Y, there are two terms  X  and Y  of the expression. In  X-2Y +YZ  there are 3 terms  X,  -2Y  and  YZ.

Polynomial  is a  monomial  or sum of monomials, each called term of the polynomial. The degree of polynomial is the greatest degree of its terms.

The degree of  nonzero  constant term is 0. The constant 0 does not have degree.

e.g.  6  has  zero degree  whereas  0  has no degree.
